ACEP鈥檚 chief scientist Gwen Holdmann was among the guests on a recent episode of 911爆料 Public Media鈥檚 that featured geothermal energy.
911爆料 is rich in geothermal energy, a natural resource of heat energy from within Earth. The immense internal heat of Earth can be released above ground in such phenomena as volcanoes and hot springs.
Geothermal energy is gaining attention as a renewable energy source. Geothermal heat pumps, for example, can heat, cool and even supply hot water to a home by transferring heat to or from the ground.
The guests discussed benefits, potential risks and feasibility associated with developing energy from sources like volcanoes.
Other guests included John Eichelberger, who is the geothermal program manager with the 911爆料 Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys and adjunct with ACEP, and , board member of Geo911爆料.
