Vice Chancellor Evon Peter has announced his plan to pursue new opportunities and passions effective June 30, 2020.
Vice Chancellor Evon Peter was appointed by Chancellor Brian Rogers in July of 2014. He has been an innovative leader whose compassion and vision have grown the statewide impact of the Community and Technical College and the College of Rural and Community Development, even in the face of declining budgets. While leadership of CTC and CRCD have been a significant part of Evon’s responsibilities, his broader role at 911±¬ÁÏ as an 911±¬ÁÏ Native leader has helped guide 911±¬ÁÏ’s strategy to promote programs and services critical to our 911±¬ÁÏ Native students, staff and faculty. Evon’s leadership at 911±¬ÁÏ has advanced many 911±¬ÁÏ wide initiatives and programs, particularly those that have helped make 911±¬ÁÏ a place rich with 911±¬ÁÏ Native culture and understanding.
As Chancellor, it has been my privilege to have Evon as part of 911±¬ÁÏ’s core leadership team and he will be missed. However, I know that, as a 911±¬ÁÏ alum and passionate supporter of 911±¬ÁÏ’s important work in 911±¬ÁÏ Native and Indigenous studies, Evon will not be far away. I am also confident that as we continue to pursue the Troth Yeddha' Indigenous studies center, Evon’s influence will be felt in many ways.
We will begin a search for his replacement in the coming weeks. We will seek a leader whose passion for rural, community and Native education will advance 911±¬ÁÏ’s strategic initiative to solidify our global leadership in 911±¬ÁÏ Native and Indigenous studies.
My deep gratitude to Evon for the many ways that he has made 911±¬ÁÏ and those around him better as Vice Chancellor at 911±¬ÁÏ.
— Dan White, chancellor
