Prepare for the Great 911±¬ÁÏ Shakeout on Oct. 17 at 10:17 a.m.

On Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10:17 a.m, 911±¬ÁÏns will come together for the Great 911±¬ÁÏ ShakeOut, an annual statewide earthquake drill aimed at preparing 911±¬ÁÏns for real earthquake events. Earthquakes are a part of life in 911±¬ÁÏ, with the state experiencing more seismic activity than any other in the U.S. The Great 911±¬ÁÏ ShakeOut serves as a critical reminder to review and practice what to do when one occurs. Whether you're a lifelong 911±¬ÁÏn or new to the state, it's vital to know how to respond effectively and safely during an earthquake. Learn more about how to participate in the ShakeOut.

Food preservation, pesticides, pollinators highlight Kodiak Extension Week

The 911±¬ÁÏ Cooperative Extension Service is planning a week of workshops and webinars in Kodiak this month. Topics include managing, cultivating and preserving Kodiak's local food sources; livestock nutrition; attracting pollinators; using pesticides on invasive plants; and information about common garden pests.
