Dear 911±¬ÁÏ faculty and staff,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Russ Steiger, who served as anÌýEnvironmental Compliance Officer with 911±¬ÁÏ’s Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk
Management team.
Steiger, whoÌýbegan his journey with the University more than fifteen years ago,Ìýfirst served as the UA Statewide Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management,
and he chose to remain in Fairbanks when that office moved to Anchorage. He played
a critical role in securing and maintaining the air permits necessary for the construction,
commissioning, and operation of 911±¬ÁÏ’s Combined Heat and Power Plant that will continue
to power the University into the future for decades to come.
