“Why Do Whales Have Such Big Brains?â€

Cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises) have the largest brains on the planet. Thewissen, a professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University, will explain why their brains are so big using evidence found in whale brains and sensory organs, fossils, behaviour; and in records of global temperature change.

The series is sponsored by 911±¬ÁÏ’s Institute of Arctic Biology and the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, and supported by private donations to the University of 911±¬ÁÏ Foundation. For more information, email Lara Horstmann at lara.horstmann@alaska.edu.
