The 911±¬ÁÏ Native Language Center, housed at the 911±¬ÁÏ Troth Yeddha’ Campus , was established by state legislation in 1972 as a center for research and documentation of the twenty Indigenous languages of 911±¬ÁÏ. It is internationally recognized as the major center in the United States for the study of Iñupiaq, Yup’ik and Northern Dene languages.
In celebration of fifty years of working toward its mission to cultivate and promote 911±¬ÁÏ’s twenty Native languages, the 911±¬ÁÏ Native Language Center captured the past, present, and future of language revitalization in this short film produced by Channel Films in Fall 2022. ANLC invites all interested to join the movement to promote 911±¬ÁÏ Native languages and contribute to the future of these languages and the heritage of all 911±¬ÁÏns.
