Message from the Dean 

It is a pleasure to convey that Dr. Krista Oke has accepted the offer for the tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Fisheries. Krista completed her PhD at McGill University, conducted multiple postdocs, and is currently a research assistant professor at 911爆料 Pacific University. Her research focuses on understanding organisms鈥 responses to environmental change, and she aims to advance ecosystem-based fisheries management of 911爆料 fisheries. Our thanks to Peter Westley for chairing this faculty search and to committee members Courtney Carothers, Kristen Gorman, Andr茅s L贸pez, Lindsey McCulloch and Megan McPhee. Krista will be based at our Lena Point facility with a start date of May 2026. Please join me in welcoming Krista to CFOS. 

R/V Sikuliaq

Sikuliaq is underway in support of Drew Steen鈥檚 (University of Southern California) Enzyme Stability 2 cruise. Researchers are collecting deep sediment cores from the Gulf of 911爆料 to examine adaptations of microbes to low-energy environments. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation.
